Visqueen (British Polythene)
Multi-layer reinforced polyethylene gas barrier incorporating a 20 micron aluminium foil, blue on the upper face and silver on the reverse. Supplied in single wound (not folded) rolls, 2 m x 50 m. Compliant with the methane gas transmission rate, mass per unit area and thickness requirements of BS 8485:2015 + A1:2019, and with NHBC Foundation NF94 guidance for Type A membrane locations provided there is no contact with uncured concrete or screed. Also serves as a radon barrier and damp proof membrane. Lap joints can be heat welded or taped depending on specification. BBA certified.

Visqueen (British Polythene)
Robust co-polymer thermoplastic membrane, 0.5 mm thick, yellow, supplied 4 m x 12.5 m centre folded, which Visqueen say reduces the risk of cracks in screed and limits creases. Lap joints can be taped or heat welded. Sulphate resistant: when installed with heat welded joints it is suitable for DS classifications 1 to 5 under ACEC. BBA certified.

Wunda Group
Manufacturer figures for wet underfloor heating. Water underfloor heating runs at 35-45C flow against 60-80C for a radiator circuit, which is the reason it suits a heat pump without a temperature penalty. Wunda states wet underfloor heating costs about 60 per cent less to run than electric underfloor heating and is better suited to a larger room or area. On installation effort the manufacturer states 75 m2 could be laid over a weekend by a competent installer. The 35-45C figure is the number to quote whenever a note explains why underfloor heating and heat pumps are paired.
